  • Autopilot for cable steering?

The Elizabeth Anne is coming along. We looked at the festivities and there seems to be quite a bit of distance involved. Those tiny tires on the '66 Dilly are a bit of a worry! Anyhow, maintenance is nearing an end for this winter and should go for sea trials out of Langley, on Whidbey Island in the near future. Now getting to the point, steering. We do plan to do the San Juan trip coming up as it is reasonably close and a trip I have wanted to do for some time. I don't want a steering system that will go on the panel as there is no room and don't want the looks of one under the wheel. So, I am building a system that picks up one of the cable runs and will hide in the sidewall with a controller on the dash.

I couldn't find anything on the net like it and was wondering if this is something that might generate some interest.

The photo was taken at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival last year.

Very nice indeed!, looking forward to seeing you and Elizabeth Anne around.

As for your steering, Toyota has some drive-by-wire systems that I hear work great:Bigdriving1: Sounds like you have it handled, keep us up to date
