1958 Mercury 75H

Here's a picture of a 1958 Merc 75H. That's "H" as in Hauls Ass! I grew up a Johnson / Evinrude guy because we could work on and maintain the OMCs ourselves. The Merc required special tools to do just about anything...or so we were told.

In my 60's now and having spent a lifetime working on marine engines, I have come to admire the Mercury motors and perhaps come to admire Carl Keikhaefer (who once worked for Ole Evinrude ) even more.

I've worked on some Mercs over the years and I have to admit the Merc electrical systems are the best !
