75 Merc 500 Longshaft

[58 bellboy]

I finished restoring a '58 Bellboy 14 ft runabout last spring. It has a '75 Merc 500 long shaft on it. I used a jack plate to raise the engine up to where the boat would operate properly.

Did Mercury make a short shaft model of this engine? Does anyone know where I might locate the lower end? My power head runs great.
