  • Bottom Paint 2

Was reading over the other bottom paint post and was reminded that I should do the job myself. This will be a first for me.

Any type/brand recommendations for my 25' skagit express?
This sits in water all year in the Columbia River.

Can I get away with pressure wash and paint?

    Thanks

    Bottom Paint for Skagit 25

    Robert -

After pressure washing the bottom, you could get away with a scuff-sanding of the bottom with abrasive pads--assuming the existing bottom paint is holding and just needs a few fresh coats. (No need to take the old bottom paint down to bare hull, unless it's falling off everywhere and wouldn't make a decent surface for application of the new bottom paint.)

I'd probably use Interlux Fiberglass Bottomkote Aqua for the Skagit 25...a hard acrylic antifouling paint that's good for faster hulls.

Thanks Marty. Having trouble soucing the Aqua locally; have to special order it. Just got a new/used prop for the Skagit; it is a (14 R 8). I am excited to see if there is a performance difference with the new prop.
