  • 1957 or 1958 Skagit 20

During my travels today I came across this Skagit. It started off innocent enough, I just wanted to take a few pics. Long story short, it's for sale. Two owner boat, no outboard. Mostly original except the steering wheel.
Send me a message if you're interested...

Thanks for the clarification on the date Tim. The owner said '58 also, but then said maybe '59. I was leaning towards '57 or 58...but that was purely a guess from what I've learned on this site.
I'd change the title but it won't let me.
So it looks like original paint all around, can you guys confirm that too?
This might be one I keep at the in-laws house (they have acreage, this could be a bad thing!) and work on it later. We'll see.

Ah yep, clearly see it now...infact, I was just looking at your pics and trying to remember the year...my head is spinning with Skagit models at the moment!

I also see the difference in the gunnel. Interesting what a difference a year makes, especially in the early models.

That's a Gel Coat on that boat Kelly. Pretty good chance it will just buff out to look new again.
One of our members has the sister to that boat, same color I think.
At least I think I got that right. Chuck, isn't Bruce's boat that same color ?
First thing to go on those is the floor. Its on Fiberglass stingers so no worries there.
Then the transom will go, then the bulkheads.

You won't push that girl with the 55 Bearcat. A 70 and larger will do good.

Hear that Boys, Kelly has a Park-n-Hide

I like Chuck, knows every inch of that boat. I also used to own a 20 Express with a Volvo I/O B-16 powered engine.
This new gas will turn in those tanks into glass snot. We did have one fellow, Jeff Ault with his 58 ran a very find filter system on his and didn't seem to have any issues. If you run the good gas, which you can find down here now with out the crap in it, should have no issues.
Just filter the crap out of things and you might not need to change the tanks out.
Those should be 20 gallon tanks in that too.

Is this the Skagit you're referring to? Bruce's? From the South Sound trip in 2012.

Or is there another one that is a hard top?

No, same color but no hard top. Like I said, not many of those around and hard to come by....
I mean Yes on the boat and color, no on the hard top.

Talk about timing...Mike P cued me in on this one a little bit ago:
                            http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/4454248851.html

Is it a 20 also? It appears shorter but it may just be the grey in the middle gives it a shorter appearance?
