Moeller filter/separator

I picked up a bargain at the Fisheries Supply swap meet. It's a brand new fuel filter / water separator made by Moeller. The first one on this page...

When I got home I noticed it is labled "Use only for outboad gasoline engines"

I want to use it on my Volvo Penta I/O. I can't figure out why this is "outboard only." What am I missing?

Fuel Filters for inboards and I/O's

Can't have a glass or plastic bowl for gas inboards & I/O's. Metal bowl would be okay.

Since they work on four stroke engines my guess would be the flow rate is too low for inboards. Just a SWAG.
