  • Electric fuel pump Recomendations

Hi everybody, looking to install electric fuel pump on my engine as the diaphragm unit is bad and can't be rebuilt. Talking to Ed Ewing out of Redding says can't go over 3 p.s.i. has anybody found a suitable pump I found one at Rock Auto that goes up to 3.5 p.s.i. that would probably work installing in a resistor to lower voltage. Any thought appreciated. Paul

Thank you Dick was wondering if I could go with pressure regulator system wasn't sure about the pulling power on those mini pumps figured I'd pay more for a quieter running pump as that post comments about noise. I took my manual pump apart diaphragm seems good poppet valves don't look bad but can't be changed from what I can see squirts a little fuel but I think could be better. My oil pressure came up if you recall I was concerned I think that engine just sat too long and the pump needed to be primed. So I did as you suggested flipped the motor and let the oil get those rod bearings oiled up. It wants to start but fuel issues are preventing it from running but thats going to change real soon. Regards, Paul P.S. Are you getting ready for Springers?

You're welcome Paul. There is a possibility of a Kohler mechanical pump that is direct replacement, my interchange shows a #A235807 but I think it is NLA. I had looked into this a while back and it seems I found a newer plastic bodied pump that might have worked. No springers for me, hell I never got the boat wet last year. I need to get it in for new top soon!

Just found this on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SIMPLICITY-A...0AAOSwk1JWdJpN

AND here's a plastic body that appears to be a replacement: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-Ko...61397615&rt=nc

Well I just got some stuff to convert to electric. Carter pump I hear there quiet and a Holley 12-804 1-4 psi regulator. I'll keep you posted and hang on to these manual pump links as you never know might be more problems than I for see with about of distance from saddle tanks to carbs and from what I'm researching electric pumps are pusher . most literature on pumps say to mount around 12" from tank outlet and below low fuel level. That would put it on the floor, mounted on my transom would be more than 12" as we only need 2-3 psi of pressure it would hopefully work. I purchased that manual plastic pump for back-up, I'll let everybody know if it's a perfect replacement. Paul
