I am restoring Mark 58 A, has SS trim on bottom cowl non on top and no signs that would suggest that it is missing, is this normal?
        Thanks, JIm

the chrome trim was an option & not on all mk58's and your top recoil was most likely replaced with a working used top without the chrome
the chrome rings arent too hard to find and complete tops with chrome are available on ebay on a regular basis

FYI- I am working on couple of early 500 mercs (1961, 1962, 1963) . I was able to purchase the top cowling piece from Sea- Way Marine in West Seattle turned out to be new old stock. If you need some SS upper cowling trim.... I have several used ones that will clean up nicely- being made out of Stainless Steel helps.

            Kindest Regards,

            Bob
