The company has some patterns for marine hardware, and if you have an original

the owner, Dennis Nyland. We've used Creative for some classic-boat emblems, and
they've been nice to work with.

LUMBER

What's
the best lumber store in Spokane, or elsewhere in Central or Eastern Washington,
if you're looking for boat lumber? Or British Columbia?
RUBBER
TRIM AND RUBRAILS
Wefco
Rubber Manufacturing Company - 21000 Osborne Street, Unit 2, Canoga Park, CA 91304;
phone (818) 886-8872, e-mail sales@wefcorubber.com,
or check patterns on website, www.wefcorubber.com.
This is the place for every imaginable need you might have, including rubrail
replacements, window-gasket rubber and other types of rubber trim. If you can't
find the pattern you're looking for on their website, cut a small sample of your
old rubrail and/or window rubber and send it to Pete at Wefco; chances are they
can match it. Rubber products are available in your choice of black or white,
with black often being less expensive. We recommend that you attach rubrail with
3M 5200 Slow Cure adhesive, not the Fast Cure since it will break down and create
runs that stain the side of your boat when it comes in contact with water. Also,
just a tip: Unless you're applying the rubber in hot weather, which makes it more
pliable, we recommend soaking the coiled rubrail in a tub of hot, soapy water
just before applying it to the hull-this will make the job easier, especially
when working with the heavier rubrail patterns.
REPLACEMENT
WINDSHIELDS
Middy
Plastic Products - 9320 151st Avenue Northeast, Redmond, WA 98052; phone (425)
883-4600. Before visiting, call to be sure someone's there, and/or call Skip's
Seattle number, (206) 459-7521, to see if Middy has a pattern for your particular
plexiglass windshield. (They have patterns for many 50's-vintage Northwest-built
boats, along with others. If you want a replacement for your cracked, crazed,
fogged-up old windshield, they are a good solution...although be prepared to pay
a decent price-this kind of work, and the materials that go into windshields,
won't be cheap.)
UPHOLSTERY
Kathy
Dow - 23913 Northeast 54th Place, Redmond, WA 98053; phone (425) 868-0921. Kathy
is the wife of Dick Dow, club member and also the current president of the Pacific
Northwest Chapter of ACBS, the Antique & Classic Boat Society. She's made
boat cushions and custom seat upholstery for a wide variety of classic boats.
Kathy works out of her home on a part-time basis, so please call first to discuss
your project and make an appointment-this isn't a regular, commercial walk-in
shop...but she's good, and her prices are reasonable.
Any
other upholstery recommendations from NWCBC members?

572-7130, e-mail doug@dougsboattops.com,

bids on a full camper top for his 1956 Skagit 20' Chinook, and was very pleased
after working with Doug. Good price, quality work, done in a timely manner.
