Hi Bill. Glad to see you made it over to NWCBC.

I have no idea how "rare" or "collectible" that Lane is, I've only seen one in the last few years, so I really can't advise you on that part. It looks cool, though.:cool:

As for the motor, if it's in good shape I'd expect to pay at least $800-$1000 US for it.:D

There is no way to put an actual price on something like this. The motor yes but not the boat. It comes down to how much you like the boat and how much you are willing to pay to own it. This one certainly is cool to look at and I suspect fairly rare. I know people that would buy it just because of the neat fins and lights. It would be worth more to them than someone that just wanted to go fishing. You have to decide what you are willing to pay for it. Barry

Yup, many times the boat has zero value...the trailer, motor, controls and fittings etc being the only items of interest. Besides, the value of anything can only be determined by the 2 parties at the moment of the transaction.

Some wise sage once said that a fair deal is when both sides feel a little cheated.

Like Barry said, you have to decide what your willing to pay for it. If you want it bad enough, get it. Just don't tell anyone what you paid. :)

If the owner can demonstrate that the motor's running okay, I'd say $900 for the package. (The boat is cool, but no doubt needs a lot of work.) If the seller says something like "the previous owner said the engine ran fine" (5 years ago), I wouldn't offer more than $400--basically nothing for a mystery motor or marginal old trailer--but I might go up to around $600.

As others have suggested, it's hard to offer specifics. This is just a best guess, based on general experience.

okay i cancell the deal.i,m waitting for sparrowhawk Munro and i suppose to have a Meteor coming after March 20.since i,m not buying it i tell you how much the boat is .asking price it was asking for $4500 but i offer $3800.

At $4500, I would be able to restore and deliver one of the '59 Reinell's that I have collected that have amazing fins. I would probably even add in a set of headlights. :D Like all the others have stated, it just comes down to how much you want the boat, and if the seller thinks he owns a gold mine or not.

Well Commander sounds like you made a wise decision. As for me i think the next boat i will buy will be turn key done with someone elses hard work completing it. :)

That's about 5 to 10 times what that's worth, sadly the seller is woefully uninformed or plain greedy thinking he has a highly collectible item. Just because something is rare does NOT mean it's valuable.

There's a saying in the old car biz about rare but low value cars: "No one wanted them then, and no one wants them now" LOL
