Howdy!
In anticipation of the glass installation party, thought I'd make sure the curved windshield glass is ready to install. This is Chrysler laminated glass.

It's got a little fog around the lower edges. I don't think the glass is etched and it's for the most part, not the plastic core.

I've seen some glass cleaners and polishes in the trade magazines. Wonder if any of you have used them? I'm reluctant to use an abrasive cleaner due to an experience I had with the tempered rear wndow in my car many years ago.

I polished it with an abrasive cleaner and two days later it shattered.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim

Check out the nearest window store. I had ordered a door for a client and it had a blemish, they gave me a red powder to buff it out or give Eastwood Restorations a try. They have several kits available.

Heat is the enema, er, enemy! That's why it shattered....stresses from different temps, different rates of expansion and contraction yada yada yada.

HERE's (http://eastwood.resultspage.com/search?p=Q&ts=custom&w=glass&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=Search) a link to Eastwood who supplies all manner of automotive restoration goodies.
