As always a great outing, I really had a good time. Plus the weather held out, not a lot of wind either. I could only get 17 mph (gps) out of the Homelite. Going get that taken care of before the March 21st outing. Thanks guys for not letting me lag too far behind. Here are a few of the pictures I got.

Despite breaking down at the end of the slough we had an awesome time!
It was great to finally meet some of you personally and see some of your boats up close. Knowing what we did to our freebee I feel sorry for Brian as the bottom of that beautiful little boat probably looks like the bottom of mine. Bumped over a lot of things but the grounding on the gravel bar with the GPS reading 26 mph drove rocks through the intake screen and locked things up. Brian was right behind us and saw what was happening but made the wrong choice of direction and grounded hard enough to have to get out to free himself. Working the flywheel back and forth freed ours up enough to reach Lake Washington but it started acting up so we headed back to the ramp at Kenmore and called for our trailer. Sorry to miss the end though. Barry

Cole and I got up this morning and the weather man said it was going to stay dry until the afternoon, so we decided to run up to Issaquah. The original plan was just to run across Sammamish to the fish wier and then turn back. But it looked so calm, and Dick Dow said the willows had been cut back... Four and a half hours later we made it to Coulon park! So much for a plan. It was a great way to literally break in the little Playmaster. We ran over the fish wier, ripped the windshield brackets off in the willows, and followed Barry (Sparrowhawk) into 2" of water on a rock bar at 24-26 MPH. The boat was built to be used though...I built it once, it can be rebuilt. Actually, we made it without any major damage. The bottom has a few nicks, but no holes. The impellor seems to have spit out all the rocks and ran great on the trip from Kenmore to Renton. I ran out of gas just past the 520 bridge, and switched to the reserve portion of the tank. There was just enough fuel to get me within 400 yards of the docks at Coulon! Thanks to Tom from Oregon, we only floated for 2 minutes before he dropped off enough to get us the rest of the way. We had a great day, with some great friends and Cole has a story for school on Monday that will beat all the other "what did you do this weekend" stories! Thanks again to everyone that helped us and made the day such a blast!

Here`s some more shots......
Got to get my GreenCbox together for this one next year.....If Brian can feel good about using his Classic then I can surely do it without a total loss.
Some skin damage I can live with.......speaking of which, kudos to member Chuck Bauer who pedaled to the Slough to view the action, only to go down hard on the Traintracks right above the ramp.Just a Flesh wound!
Seeing the boys "Drift" thru the last turn above the Trestle was worth the long boat ride from Renton.
Team Johnson,Team Flaherty and the smallest boat in the field,John Nelson in his Alum cartopper powered by a 3 hp Johnson.Thanx for the Cookies Team Nelson!

Sweet photos folks. I remember the one I went to and had a great time.

Dang. I almost had mine ready to go too. I was going to come up there and run the slough this year, but got a little behind.

Maybe next year.

We had a spectactular time this year. Super excited that we actually made it the entire way this year, (thanks to having 2 props on board) All though we sustained major damage in the willows as well during the Lake Washington crossing... Does anyone have the chrome handle off the top of a mid 60's tow of power?? Ours broke off during the crossing. Once we got the boat out of the water at Coulon we discovered the bottom skeg on the outboard was curled to the left, heated it up and tried to staighten but it snapped in half right along a line that looks like a previous repair. Sending to Alluminum welder this week...

We had 3 cameras firing from on board as well as our car driver along the shore so once we get all the photos onto a computer we will post them up.

This boat did not have the speed and agility of the famous "Shark boat" P-14 of last year, but survived and conqured the willows. Captain Greg's navigational skills at the helm, and razor-sharp memory of submerged obstacles and hidden hazards got us through without damage to the prop!
True, we DID have to scramble at times to cut power and rapidly raise the motor, and we did swap ends a few more times in the willows than last year, and there WAS a minor loss of concentration when we were under "tennis ball attack" from othe fun-loving boaters, and we may or may not have allegedly launched completely airborn crossing a huge wake in Lake Washington.
It was really a great feeling to see all the boats tied up at the trestle, it's always great to see everybody, and I only have one question : Chuck, we saw that you gave "Mad Dog" a substantial head start on the way back from Kenmore to Coulon, I was betting that you caught up to him and passed him in your beautiful and trusty Rosario !

Hey Bandit, You and Smokey look great out there. Never thought that boat would see water again ! As far as Mad Dog, I just let him keep ahead as i did not want my Evinrude to catch any of his RUDE bad habits...like learning to smoke. Chuck

So we finally got some pictures off our cameras... and I just got my lower unit back from my welder (big brother)..

So the first picture is of my fixed lower unit, had to have my brother weld the skeg back on my motor after my father and I broke it off trying to straighten it out..

Other photos will come in next post, have to switch to my laptop, apparently the upload feature on this forum doesn't agree with my girlfriend's Macbook..

When was the run? Darn...I missed it?

If it were on a Thurs. or Fri. I would have love to have attended.

I was really hoping to make it on one of these this yr. too. Maybe later in the summer.

Great pic all!!

Terry -

Yes, the Slough Run was Feb. 28. (Assume you've discovered the 2009 Events Calendar, accessible from the Home Page...?)

Hope to see you at one of the upcoming events...
