After some horse trading with the Illustrious Mr. Lamb this fine piece of machinery, destined for McSon's '55 Bell Boy Express, is resting comfortably in the shop. It is in fine shape, especially considering it was born in 1961. In one of the photos you can see it even still has the number tags on the original wires, which correspond to the numbers on the terminal block.
Between now and spring, it will receive the updated cooling, starting and charging systems, re-sealing of the block and lower end and a little paint here and there. OK, a lot of paint. :D

Between now and Spring?...my birthday is in February...a running motor would be an awesome present...:boater1:

Crap swap = SUCCESS! :cheers2:

Today we pulled the carbs off, cleaned out an amazing amount of crud, put them back on, cleaned the points and fired her up. She started right up, burned off the oil we squirted into the cylinders before turning it over by hand a few times, and settled into a pretty smooth idle.
Warm compression test was just fine, so now on to updating the systems and prepping for paint. What fun! Ya shoulda seen the grin on McSon's face when she fired up!

Tim, are you going with the later starter? How about the charging system, have you checked to see if the regulator works? I don't think the regulator is working on my '61.

Hi Dick,
Yes, the plan is to go with the later starter, charging and cooling systems. I haven't checked the regulator yet.
