  • Local wins Detroit Gold Cup!

    Hey Hydro Fans,
Been working with the Seattle Outborad Assoc. group donating some time to help build a small fleet of J-class Outboard hydros at a small shop in So Park,Modern Pattern Works.
They`ve built over 100 of the Wooden Limited boats over the years ,many driven by up-and coming Unlimited Drivers.
Used to have Kip Brown scoop my Herring at Seacrest Boathouse in West Seattle in the early 90`s ,now he drives for the Our Gang Racing Team ,ran by his uncle Nate Brown.
He`s building a J-class boat for his Daughter ,some other locals are doing the same in between racing dates all over the country.
Last week was the Detroit Gold Cup and Kip was in last place after qualifying.
Sunday he turned the tide and WON the whole thing.
Too bad they let the Spirit of Quator sponsor the boat so the Our Gang Team didn`t get to wave their colors.
Steve David of the Oberto Racing team has been runner-up now 12 times.
At 37 ,Kip is got alot of years and races left to reach the Hanauer and Muncey status.
For you Piston engine fans ,a 7 -litre Vintage hydro, The Miss Vitamilk was getting fitted with a new engine ,now owned by the son of original owner.
He had been known as "The World`s Fastest Milkman".
Seafair is coming, hope the weather keeps this up.
