herters boat

you may have seen on cl a couple days ago a herters boat for $200 in washougal. Yes, I got it. $100. Turns out to be, I think, a mark 3 runabout with a 40 hp elgin motor. Guy tore down a shed and found a boat behind it in the black berrys.Pretty fair shape. one broken tail light, missing the front lights, no upholstery and no windshield. going to be a fun project. hope to have it on the water in a couple weeks.

Herter's like the midwest Herter's (Iowa?)? I built a flyrod from one of their kits in 1967. Herter's was the Cabela's of that time. Maybe better.
