Tim Mattson just called (4:45 pm) to say he made it all the way from Lake Sammamish to Coulon Park in Renton...and he may have been the only one to go the entire distance--so congrats, Tim.

Don't know how others did, since I was DNS at the Lake Sammamish ramp. (Seems like it was a bad fuel pump--engine would run for a few seconds, after pumping, then die.)

Have I ever mentioned that I HATE OUTBOARD MOTORS?!!

Hey Chuck,
It ran really sweet.....minor steering issue made the slough kinda interesting to say the least.
Gordon has a new reason to wear a PFD, he almost fell overboard laughing at us almost leave the,well we did ,in fact, exit the water....uhmmm,like 3 times.
Always check your steering.....had my rack upside down so it worked BACKWARDS!
Do not try this at home is becoming my new slogan.
We also may have screwed it for the coming years as Dept. of Fish and Wildlife stopped us for a chat......more to come.
We hit almost 3-4` sloppy waves south of 520 but the G3 rode solid and ate up the lake.
Lowell followed us and said he took some over the top.We never got wet and I was drier at Renton then after putting on my wet Mustang Suit.
We have a gps of our trip showing speed and route.
Probably better burn it......
Found my gas tanks all half full, used only 6-7 gallons total and managed 35 or so even with way too much gas with us.

My son and i changed our plans at the last minute after talking to Marty on the 520 bridge and instead took the Farallon over to Lake Sammamish and skip Coulon Park in Renton. It was a little choppy out there more so up at the northend of Sammamish , but no big deal with the Farallon.Besides my son on board, i had Cheryl Davies and Greg Lamb on the way back to the launch,so they could meet up with Gordon at Kenmore with the truck & trailer.Great seeing everybody. See you guys and gal's in two weeks ! Chuck

Yes Greg,
It was hard to not do the reverse,though I didn`t have my budy going "left,left ,LEFT,LEFT" then Right ,Right ,RIGHT!
My co-pilot Sanjay sent me this link to his Garmin plot track.....I think some of it was his car journey but the elevation and trail are easy to follow.Didn`t show our 75 degree uphill climb stunt....done right after an overpass ,and right BEFORE a shallow riffle area we would have nailed,and what Brian Flaherty would have creamed.
Should have seen the 3`` of blackberry leaves we had on the ENTIRE bow.....no white was visible until we sped up and the had it hitting our teeth for awhile.
Switch the view to "Satellite" for an even better map.

I was a little jealous of Marty, his engine at least had the courtesy to not start, mine started and ran great until I was as far away as possible from the launch! Gee, after all I've done for it, that was a pretty dirt trick.

Super Day!!

What a great day! Started out with breakfast at IHOP with members Jack & Kathy and Jay & Terra. Then off to the launch at Sammamish. 3 boats put in for the run down the slough. Brian Flaherty and his friend in a Havoc speedboat with a 100 merc, Tim Matson and friend in a Yamaha 55 powered G3, and me in my merc powered 14' Texas Maid fishing boat. Several support boats also put in. I guess some had mechanical gremlins, but several escorted us to the far end of the lake. I would like to thank Chuck for chauffeuring my wife in the big Farralon. Cheryl and I had decided that my boat was just too small for both of us, so I converted it back to a single seater. I had alot of fun in my little aluminum boat. The willows were a challenge and I got stuck once on a branch and had to scramble to get loose. Moving to the nose of the boat and using a paddle seemed to work somewhat for steering. The 3 of us had some GREAT runs down the "river". I was right behind Tim when he decided to turn left, which turned him right and up the bank into the brush!. That's a memory I will cherish for ever! Not often you get to witness a boat wreck! Of course then we had to deal with the law. Seems there had been some complaints about us. The Game warden was laying for us under a bridge just up from Bothell. He was pretty cool, although I don't think Tim agrees! Pretty mellow driving the rest of the way after our run in with the law.Brian and I both pulled out at Kenmore. I had planned on going the whole way, but with the strong winds and the truck/trailer/wife logistics, I called it a day. Another special thanks to Greg (Slo-Mo) for piloting my truck from Sammamish to Kenmore, Thanks Bud! Congratulations to Tim and his copilot for surviving the day (3 times on the bank!), the law and the water conditions, all with backwards steering!! Here's some pictures!

Yeah, I was wondering how fast the wind was going to push me into the weeds before we got out of there. What was especially entertaining was the paddle craft race that we were in the middle of when I was trying to get it started, and then when you were towing me back we ended up in the middle of them on their return leg. Nice bunch of folks, not a single dirty look came our way!

I tried to stay out of their way at the north end. But on the way back, I just stayed on course and let them go around us. I figured when they seen the boat in tow, they would understand. We certainly were not putting out any wake.
