We R Back !

Saturday turned out to be a very nice day as the weather and water condition in the South Sound was great ! All together there was about seven boats.Tim Jones showed up with his 1959 31' Skagit Saratogan and invited any of us out for a ride. What a boat ! We arrived and stayed at Joemma Beach State Park for about 2 1/2 hours or so talking boats ( of course ) and having lunch before some of us went for a ride up to Grapeview and back down the west side of Pickering Passage of Hartstene Island past Jarrell's Cove State Park and said goodby to Allan & Sue as they made their way southbound to Olympia as we headed back up north to our starting point at Day Island Marina in Tacoma. I had two out of three of my son's, Dan & Ryan with our three year old grandson Grant,who was great all day long and he even had a chance to play on the beach and caught a nap on the way back ! We even got a little sunburn ! As you know it is hard to take pic's when driving so some did not come out very well.The boaters that attended were, Bruce Bridwell (BruceB) with his all orginal 20' Skagit Express, Jack ( Jaxbot )and his wife with their very nice Stiletto, Allan & Sue Martin (Chelan) with that great looking 1958 Dorsett Farallon ( I like Farallon's being I had one once), Tim Jones ( McSkagitTimJones ) with "what can you say" 31' Skagit Saratogan, Richard's ( Woodenboatfogey ) picture 8 Thompson boat as the only wood boat at the meet. I'am sorry but i did not get the names of the couple with the Glasspar in picture six ? Chuck

P.S. I really like that picture 21 of Bruce Bridwell and Tim Jones next to each other. That would have been the only time you would ever had seen a Skagit 31' Saratogan ( only three made ? ) and a 20' Skagit together ! ! A person might have seen that in the late 50's , but never in 2012 !

Here are a couple more shots. Had a great opportunity to shoot pics along the west side of Hartstene and along Peale Passage to Boston Harbor of Tim and the Saratogan. Many more shots than this, wish I'd brought an extra memory card... sun finally came out near The Narrows !

Just got back to Friday Harbor

Spent six days in lower Puget Sound and just got back this afternoon. Covered 300 nautical miles and had a great time. Really enjoyed meeting and cruising with the club members and also Ralph and Aubrey I met in Longbranch with their early Glaspar.

Had to come back because I was low on fuel, water, food, beer and most importantly, toilet paper. Spent last night in Mystery Bay and had a chance to see Marty and get a tour of his shop. Really enjoyed Mystery Bay.

Special thanks to Bruce Bridwell for the new Skagit pennant, CD and especially shooting some video of the Saratogan underway. I wanted a shot of the camera (Bruce's boat) stationary as I cruise past (close) at high speed. Bruce said, "don't worry about waking me"!

I'll post some pics and (hopefully) video of my adventure.... soon..
