  • Boating Safety Class Set for April 11

I talked to the boating-safety class instructor today, and was able to reserve Saturday, April 11, for a class that'll be personally designed for members of the Northwest Classic Boat Club.

We'll gather from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in a private dining room at Johnny's Dock Restaurant, on the Tacoma waterfront. Lunch will be served in the meeting room, so that we don't have to waste time going out somewhere for a meal.

Skip Anderson, our personal instructor, will tailor the class to operators of smaller powerboats, and the class will be designed to help members immediately pass the online test and receive their Boating Safety Cards. (Even if you already have your card, the class will certainly be worth taking.)

Skip is a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Master Skipper; director of the Center for Maritime Studies; president of the Tacoma Waterfront Association; and a certified Coast Guard trainer.

There will be a fee to cover the class and lunch; stay tuned for details as we figure out what the cost will need to be. Also, because of the size of the room we may be limited to about 20 attendees, so if you're planning to attend, please indicate your intentions below.

Mo and I will be there, for sure!

        Me too.

The above was too short. Got a message that my reply needs to be at least 10 characters long.

I'll be there, although I am "grandfathered" for this law.

So Far, 13 Sign-Ups for the Boating Safety Class

If you want to attend the April 11 session, please indicate that you'll be coming...and soon...since we already have 13 individuals informally registered, and the limit in the room might be about 20. (Will know more details on exact room size and cost very soon...)

I also have my card, so if you need the room for someone who does not have their card, let me know. I can bow out.
